Evelyn M. Johnson, age 95, went home with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

Evelyn was born March 15, 1913, in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Harry L. and Jessie (Zehm) Hood. She moved to Council Bluffs in 1944, and worked for Beno's Department Store for over 32 years, retiring as Assistant Manager of Housewares. Evelyn was a member of Holy Family Church since 1944, Altar and Rosary Society, Holy Family Quilters, St. Martin de Porres Mission Guild and Quota Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank 7-12-1965; son, Bud 4-7-2003; son-in-law, Mike Kallman; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and a brother.

Evelyn is survived by daughters, Jacquie Kallman of Bellevue, Neb., Barbara Ackerson, Mary Burroughs and husband Richard, Rosemary Meekins all of Council Bluffs, Gertrude Lines and husband Jerry of Leland, N.C.; son, Jim Johnson and wife Karen of Arlington Heights, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Eileen Johnson of Atlantic; 32 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday 4:00 p.m., Queen of Apostles Church with a Rosary by the Altar and Rosary Society. Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Queen of Apostles. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Queens. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery with luncheon to follow at Queens. Memorials to Holy Family Church preferred.
