In Memory: Bernice May Troll
Bernice May Troll, 89, of New London died April 30, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
She was born on August 12, 1912 at Yorkshire, one of four children in the family of John W. and Mary Hauschild Collins, Sr. She attended school in Neola and graduated from Neola High School.
Bernice married William Troll on February 25, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. They were the parents of two sons, Richard and Marlyn.
They lived in Sioux City, Iowa for a number of years before moving to the Persia and Minden areas. William died on April 30, 1988.
Bernice was a member of the Minden United Church of Christ. She was a mother and homemaker and was also employed by John Morrell Company, the Minden Café, The Kopper Kettle at Minden and REM Leadway in Shelby.
Bernice lived in Minden until 1998 when she moved to the New London/Burlington, Iowa area. She enjoyed gardening and the company of her cats. In November she moved to the Rosebush Gardens Health Center in Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Arlyn; her husband, William; a sister, Irene Collins; and a brother, Arthur Collins.
Survivors include her son Marlyn Troll of Sperry, Iowa; three grandchildren, Richard Troll of Ames, Chris Troll of Laramie, Wyoming, and Andrea Troll of Sioux Center; a brother, John Collins and his wife Phyllis of Logan; nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral ceremonies were held at the Knutson Funeral Chapel in Avoca on Friday, May 3 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Denny Peterson, pastor of the Minden United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Shelby Cemetery at Shelby.
