Wayne L. Gibbs, age 76, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away April 19, 2008 at his home.

Wayne was born April 17, 1932 in Council Bluffs to the late William L. and Jeanette Gibbs. He married Elva L. Britt on May 17, 1948 and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Wayne retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad as a switchman after 41 years of service. He was a member of Emanuel Church of the Nazarene.

Wayne was preceded in death by a half sister, Linda.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elva L. Gibbs, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Evelyn Russell and husband Bill, of Honey Creek, Pamela Sue Johnson, of Omaha, Karen Jean Moosmeier and husband Dan, of Council Bluffs; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; half sister, Sue, of Council Bluffs; half brother, Gary Shippey and wife Peg, of Ogden, Utah; step sister, Linda Greenwood and husband LeRoy, of Glenwood.

Open visitation, Monday, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial, Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Reverend Rick Blodgett will officiate. Family and friends to meet, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home for the cortege to the cemetery. A lunch will follow at Emanuel Church of the Nazarene.

Memorials are suggested to the church.
