In Memory: Douglas Stuhr Sr.

Douglas Darrel Stuhr St., 81, of Persia died April 3 at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan.

He was born north of Neola. He was a farmer and also was a feed and farm supply salesman until 1990. He retired from farming in 1964.

Doug was born March 13, 1922 near Minden, Iowa. He was the son of Walter and Martha Peterson Stuhr and was one of three children in the family. He grew up south of Minden and attended rural schools.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, on February 27. They were married 69 years. He was also preceded in death by his son David, a granddaughter Angie, a sister, Doreen Driver and a brother, Wayne Stuhr.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianna Reimers, and husband, Ken, of Council Bluffs; son, Douglas Stuhr Jr., and wife, Frances, of Council Bluffs; daughter-in-law, Mary Stuhr, of Council Bluffs; 9 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Minden United Church of Christ in Minden. The funeral was held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Denny Peterson officiating.

Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.

Pauley Knuston Funeral Home in Avoca was in charge of arrangements.
