In Memory: Harold Delanty

Funeral mass for Harold E. Delanty, 83, of Council Bluffs was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola with the Rev. Dan Kirby officiating.

Mr. Delanty died on March 23 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born in Omaha to Mark and Nellie (Sundell) Delanty and attended St. Joseph High School in Neola. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was with the 29th division of first soldiers that landed on Omaha beach on D-Day. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver for the Tri-Center School District. He was a member of the Neola American Legion Post 330.

Mr. Delanty and his wife, Fern E., were married for 50 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Belford-O'Neill Hillside Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola with military rites by American Legion Post 330.
