NEOLA - Gerald W. "Jerry" Wellman, 60, of Neola died Dec. 20 following a car wreck at 385th Street and Highway 383, south of Shelby near Minden.

He was born in to Walter and Inez (Stroker) on Nov. 29, 1942, in Neola, where he lived his entire life. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Neola in 1960.

He was a self-employed contractor at Farm Maintenance Co. in Neola, served in the National Guard and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Mr. Wellman and his wife, were married on March 3, 1984. They were married for 18 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Mariah Wellman of Council Bluffs and Tessa of Minden; a son, Jeff of Council Bluffs; his mother, Inez Wellman of Neola; two sisters, Susan Guadian and husband, Rick, of Neola and Nancy Johnsen and husband, Steven, of Council Bluffs; and a brother, Michael and wife, Arlyn, of Neola.

Visitation with the family will Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Neola. Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Richard Gubbels, the Rev. Dan Kirby and the Rev. Wayne Barr officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery with a lunch to follow in the church hall.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.
