Mary Kathryn "Kay" Pogge, 83, passed away on January 12, 2008, in Olathe, Kansas.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Pogge.

Kay was born on September 27, 1924, in Lincoln, Neb., along with her twin brother, Richard Bogan. Her parents were John and Ella Bogan. Kay attended the University of Nebraska, but graduated from Duchesne College in Omaha, Neb. She remained, however, a life long Husker football fan. Kay was active in Service League, P.E.O., Knights & Ladies of the Holly Sepulchre and numerous other charitable organizations. Kay married Ray on August 7, 1948, and they settled in Council Bluffs where Ray practiced law until his death in 1991. Ray was also Mayor of Council Bluffs in 1975. Kay moved to Olathe, Kansas to live near her daughter, Anne, in 2002.

Kay is survived by her six children, Jean Pogge (spouse Jesse Auerbach) of Chicago, Ron Pogge (spouse Susan) of Des Moines, Jack Pogge (spouse Judy) of Denver, Joe Pogge (spouse Nancy) of Houston, Patty Parker (spouse Greg) of Denver, and Anne Mercer (spouse Dan) of Olathe. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Bloom of Fremont, Neb.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Albert High School or Catholic Charities Hospice.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with lunch following at the church. In addition, a Memorial Service will be held at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas on Monday, January 21st at 10:00 a.m.
