Roman J. Goeser

DENISON - The funeral for Roman John Goeser, 81, of Denison will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison.

Mr. Goeser died Dec. 15 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Westphalia to Quirin E. and Magdelena Schneider Goeser. He received his education in the Westphalia Community School. He and his family moved from Westphalia to Kirkman in 1930, then to Dow City in 1936. He and his wife settled on a farm west of Arion. In 1948, they moved to Denison, where he worked for Jahnke Implement. In 1949, he owned a caterpillar and went to Wagner, S.D., to help make the Fort Randall Dam. In 1950, they moved to Council Bluffs, where he was employed at Gamble Robinson in Omaha. In 1959 he returned to farming, moving to Dow City. He retired in 1982. In 1984, he moved to Council Bluffs, then in April 2000 he moved to the Reed House in Denison. In 2001 he moved to Eventide Lutheran Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Peffer and husband, Darrell, of Denison; Susan Kotto and husband, Jeffrey, of Ida Grove; one son, David, of Omaha; four sisters, Dorothy Weinhold of Kansas City, Kan., Corine Vils of Mazomanie, Wis., Irma Goeser of Fort Dodge and Della Kenkel and husband, Clarence, of Johnston; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friend, Betty Raygor, of Council Bluffs.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dow City Cemetery in Dow City.
