Robert O'Neill

The funeral for Robert O'Neill, 74, of Council Bluffs will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Minden United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dennis Petersen officiating.

Mr. O'Neill died Dec. 9 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born May 8, 1928, in Neola to Ambrose and Myrtle (Tradel) O'Neill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer. He was a member of Minden United Church of Christ, and a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 437.

Mr. O'Neill and his wife, Mary Lou (West), were married 46 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one daughter, Donna Goodman, of Omaha; one son, Daniel, and wife, Patty, of Minden; five sisters, Barbara Gaarder and husband, Larry, of Brooklyn, Minn., Beverly Conaway and husband, Alvin, of Estacada, Ore., Betty Landers and husband, Fred, of Ashland, Neb., Bonnie Wedel and husband, Allan, of Council Bluffs and Peggy Wasem and husband, Ralph, of Denver, Colo.; four brothers, Buster O'Neill and wife, Earla, of Rolfe, John O'Neill and wife, Virginia, of Coos Bay, Ore., Jim O'Neill and wife, Carol, of Corning and Melvin O'Neill of Nuotonic, Mo.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 437.

Memorials may be offered to the Minden United Church of Christ, Lewis Township Fire & Rescue and American Cancer Society.
