Raymond V. Spencer (1942-2007)

Raymond Verne Spencer, age 65, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away November 22, 2007 after a long courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Raymond was born on September 15, 1942 in Omaha, Neb. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and served our country in the US Navy. Ray was joined in holy matrimony to Linda Sealock on May 23, 1964. They were married for 43 years and to this union two daughters were born. Ray worked in the auto industry for twenty five years and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl William (E.W.) and Bantinniece "June" Stortz.

The family includes wife, Linda Spencer, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Teri Kilgore and husband Lonnie, of Norman, Okla., Dawn Cloyd and husband Dan, of Council Bluffs; brothers, Richard "Fudd" Spencer and wife Mary, of Council Bluffs, Larry Spencer and wife Debbie, of Norman, Okla.; 5 loving grandchildren, Danny and Demi Cloyd, of Council Bluffs, Lukas, Jacob and Spencer Kilgore, of Norman, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ray was an extremely loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed every minute he had to spend with his family. Ray enjoyed playing golf with friends and watching his grandchildren play sports. He will be greatly missed.

Rosary Recitation, Monday, 6:30 p.m. with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. A lunch will follow at the church.
