Dudley D. Geise, 81, passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 at 1:31 a.m. at his home in Overland Park, Kan. Family was close by with Dudley with friends overwhelming support and encouragement.

Visitation services will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2007 at Amos Family Funeral Home, Shawness, Kan. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Overland Park Christian Church, Overland Park, Kan. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Olathe, Kan.

Mr. Giese suggests memorial contributions be made to either: Westlake Christian Church, RR #4, Box 556, Gravois Mills, Mo., 65037; to Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 West 75th St., Overland Park, Kan., 66204; to Ottawa University Braces Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund, Ottawa University, 1001 South Cedar St., Ottawa, Kan., 66067; or to Kansas City Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 8701 Leeds Road, KC, Mo., 63129.

Dudley was born in Underwood, Iowa, in October of 1926, where he lived the life of a farmer's son, serving as a responsible contributor in the daily farming tasks by age 10. Mr. Geise attended Underwood High School, graduating in 1944. He then went on to serve his country as an MP in the Air Force in World War II from 1945-46, serving as sentry in key newly forming government facilities in Japan following their surrender. After his discharge, Dudley spent 2 years working the farm in Iowa before being recruited right off a tractor by the Ottawa University basketball coach.

During his 4 years at Ottawa University, Mr. Geise accumulated 10 total letters in football, basketball and track. He graduated in 1953 with degrees in secondary education and coaching.

Following college, Mr. Geise married Mary Alice Edwards of Wichita, Kan., on her graduation day of May 30, 1954. The couple celebrates 53 years of marriage and the life enriching experience of raising 4 children. Family activities were sports, summer traveling and spending valuable time with friends and family.

In his professional life, Dudley taught high school for 35 years in various subjects while also coaching in districts from western Kansas to most recently Shawnee Mission (SM South, SM North). Throughout his 25 years in Shawnee Mission, Dud served as high school FCA Huddle Leader, being selected to receive the "Torchbearer Service Appreciation" recognition in 2006. Coach Geise's Head Basketball coaching accomplishments included 5 of 9 state tourney appearances while at SM South with 2 Runner Up finishes and numerous Sunflower League Championships. These basketball coaching accomplishments lead to his induction into the Kansas Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1991. Dud belonged to the American Legion Post 315. Dudley was actively involved in church life, serving as deacon and active volunteer at both Prairie Baptist Church and Overland Park Christian Church.

Mr. Geise is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; sons, Rick, Dillon, of Colo.; Randall, of Union, Mo.; Terry, Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Tamara, of Lenexa, Kan.; 7 grandchildren; and brother, Dale Geise, of Boone, Iowa; 3 nephews and 1 niece.
