Helen K. "Katie" Hodges, age 83, of Deland, Fla., passed away November 9, 2007, at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Katie was born April 22, 1924, in St. Joseph, Mo., to the late Francis and Dorothy (Kaczak) Buczek. Katie married John Hodges on March 16, 1947. She worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 11 years in Montgomery, Ill., before retiring in 1979. Katie moved to Deland, Fla., following retirement and enjoyed spending time with her many loving friends in the Deland area. Katie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Eastern Star.

Katie is preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Hodges- Sommerville and husband, Geoff of Council Bluffs, Pamla Hodges-Baxter and husband, Jim of Chetek, Wis.; grandsons, Jamie Sommerville and wife, Tara of Glenwood, Iowa; Jim Baxter and wife Krystal of Anoka, Minn.; granddaughter, Katie Baxter of Duluth, Minn.; and great grandsons, Ian, Gage and Gavin Sommerville. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the home of Karen and Geoff Sommerville, 212 Forest Glen Dr., Council Bluffs.
