Stephen E. Bates, age 58, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 10, 2007, at University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Stephen was born May 4, 1949, in Council Bluffs to George and Patricia Bates. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in banking as an accounts specialist.

He is survived by his parents, George and Patricia, sister, Becky Denman and husband Phil, nephews Eric, Kyle and wife, Amy; great-nieces, Devyn and Alyssa, great-nephew, Garrett, and special friend, Dave Burgstrom.

A memorial visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service following at 2:30 p.m.. at Maher-Livingston Funeral Home. Pastor Sandy Gobelli will be officiating services. Private family inurnment at a later date.
