Dean "Red" A. Carter, 83, Council Bluffs, passed away September 7, 2007.

Preceded in death by wife, LaVance.

Survived by daughters, Pamela (Steve) Muell, Patty (Mark) Bartholomew, Cindy (Frank) Stricklett, Cathy Carter, Deanna (Robert) Church; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

Dean was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army's 106th Infantry Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Vickers in 1989. He was inducted into the Iowa National Horseshoes Pitchers Hall of Fame and has been a member of the National Horseshoes Association since 1964.

Visitation will be at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home Monday, September 10, 2007, from 3 to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Military Honors by Millard AL 374 and VFW 8334. Private graveside service.
