Unah H. White

U. H. White, transfer and drayage, Council Bluffs, was born in New York in 1836. His parents moved to Ohio in 1838, where he was raised and educated. He came to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1858, and engaged in the lumber trade; continuing this until 1872, when he came to Council Bluffs and opened a furniture store. In 1880, he established his freight transfer business, running four wagons and employing four men. He was a member of the City Council of Des Moines for two terms.
