D. W. Gallaher

D. W. Gallaher, farmer, P. O. Neola, was born in Ogle County, Ill., August 16, 1851. He is the son of Benjamin and Jane (Fullerton) Gallaher, both natives of Pennsylvania. His father was born in 1809, and his mother in 1808, and are both living in Minden Township. They had eleven children - seven cons and four daughters. Our subject received his education in Ogle County, Ill., and began life as a farmer. He came to this county in 1875, and, in 1879, purchased fifty-nine acres of improved land. In 1881, he bought forty acres more, and, in 1882, added eighty acres of wild land. He engaged in general farming. He was married, in Pierceville, De Kalb Co., Ill., November 12, 1873, to Frances E. Wilcox, born in Courtland, Ill., in 1857. She is the daughter of James O. and Welthy (Matteson) Wilcox, both natives of New York State. Mr. and Mrs. Gallaher have had three children - Benjamin Franklin (now dead), James Oscar and Nellie Amelia. In politics, Mr. Gallaher is a Republican. He was at one time School Director.
