Maxine E. Smith, 101, passed away on January 5, 2014. Maxine was born on December 27, 1912 in Elliot, Iowa to Raymond and Florence Leonard. She graduated from North High School and attended Drake University. Maxine was married to Charles J. Smith for 66 years. She worked in the Iowa Legislature for 33 years and was a 63 year member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Maxine is survived by her son Jeffrey (Bonnie), of Waukee, IA., 5 grand children, 11 great grand children and two great, great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles and son, Barry.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines, IA. Memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association, Iowa Chapter, 6165 NW 86th St. Suite 205, Johnston, IA 50131
