Paul Karpen, 84, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Arbor Springs Care Center in West Des Moines, IA. Private family graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Heights, IL. The family will be at the home of Barbara and Harvey Fink, 8519 N. Keeler, Skokie after the service.

Paul was born September 16, 1927 to Maurice and Rose (Breman) Karpen in Chicago, IL. He was an Army veteran, and worked as an architect until his retirement.

Survivors include his sister, Judy (Marshall) Flapan of Des Moines; nieces: Cheryl Lewis, Valerie Canter, Suzanne Flapan, Julie Flapan-Feig, Wendy Flapan; great nieces and nephews; cousins: Harvey Fink, Jerrold Brim, Joel and Kenneth Breman.
