Mrs. Gladys M. Wagner, 80, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the Abington on Grand in Ames, Iowa.
Mrs. Wagner was born September 25, 1931, in Madrid, Iowa, to Joseph and Pauline (Crowder) Wesley. She retired in 1976 from Des Moines Public Schools, where she was a teacher for over 26 years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and Delta Sigma Theta.
Mrs. Wagner is survived by her sons, Tyree (Pam Jackson) Wagner and Jason (Charlotte) Wagner; daughter, Bobbye Wagner; sisters, Mildred Tindrell, Ruby Thomas and Evelyn Bailey; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Joe and Marvin Wesley; and her sisters, Mary Lowery and Velma Henegan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Union Baptist Church, 1200 McCormick Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to Delta Sigma Theta’s Scholarship Fund, Triad Foundation, P.O. Box 4706, Des Moines, Iowa 50306, in loving memory of Mrs. Wagner.
