Mary Jo Moreno, 57, passed away January 9, 2012 with her family by her side in Des Moines, Iowa.
A public memorial will be held on January 23rd at 12 p.m. at Brennan Hall Chapel in Mercy college, 928 6th St in Des Moines.
Mary was born on April 4, 1954 in Des Moines. Her interests were music, reading, cooking, movies, and much more. Mary grew up in Des Moines and was an avid horseback rider. She graduated from Lincoln High School and married her high school sweet heart, Jesse.
In her late twenties, as a mother of four, she went back to college where with determination and hard work she became a registered nurse. Despite a busy schedule, and raising a family, she was valedictorian. Her class finished 3rd in the state in 1988.
Mary was a devoted mother who always made time for counsel to her children, family, and friends. She had recently become a valuable volunteer for Joppa Outreach, where she invested time in helping homeless people and speaking to college students at Mercy College. Mary made friends where ever she was and had many lifelong relationships.
Mary is survived by her six children: Thor, Damon, Robyn, Molly, Jesse, Rachel, as well as eight grandchildren and her brother Steve Young and sister Julie Crawford.
