Lorraine D. Renes, 85, of Des Moines died Friday, March 16, 2012 at Valley View Village of complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Private family graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Lorraine was born on May 18, 1927 in Denison, IA to Percy and Lillian (Krauel) Miles and grew up in Waterloo with adoptive parents, Elmer "Johnnie" and Annette "Billie" Johnson. She lived most of her adult life in Des Moines. She worked for Meredith Corporation and retired from Plain Talk Printing. In her retirement she worked for her son, Charles at Renes Greenhouse. Lorraine enjoyed bingo and cake decorating. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include three children, Charles (Joyce) Renes of Des Moines and Nancy Renes and David Renes of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Tasha (Aaron) Wells, Robert (Amy) Renes, Larissa (Clint) Brooner and Chris (Stacey) Baumann; former husband, Bob Renes; nine great- grandchildren plus a tenth great-grandchild expected in April. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffery Lynn Renes, and six siblings, LeRoy, Leonard, Leo, LaVerna, Leota and LaBerta.
