Maxine Johnson, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. A Celebration of her Life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Lutheran Church of Hope, of which she was a member. Private burial will be in Jordan Cemetery.
Maxine was born in Marshalltown, Iowa the daughter of William and Laura Kurtz. She was a 1936 graduate of Marshalltown High School, lived in West Des Moines most of her life, and worked for Kiburz Drug and then Pioneer Hi-Bred International. Maxine was an active volunteer at Living History Farms and for the Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary. She was a past member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her son, Lincoln (Rilaine) Johnson of West Des Moines, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Kurtz and husband, Pete Johnson.
