Harold Rieger, 106, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
Harold was born October 14, 1905, in Chicago, IL to Fred A. and Helen (Glover) Rieger and moved to Des Moines in 1921. He worked at Iowa Des Moines National Bank for 43 years, retiring as an officer of the bank in 1968. Harold was a member of the Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple, and the Iowa Des Moines National Bank 25-year Club. Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Drake Bulldogs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Harold is survived by three sons, George H. (Diana) Rieger of Knoxville, TN, Donald R. Rieger of Johnston, and Dennis L. (Lory) Rieger of Pleasant Hill; several grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma.
