Roy L. Poole, Jr. , 78, of Des Moines died of heart failure on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Graveside services will 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Roy was born on June 4, 1934 in Centerville, IA to Roy Poole, Sr. and Evelyn Parcel Poole Robbins. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a machinist at John Deere Manufacturing in Ankeny. He was a member of Auto Workers Local 450. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Roy's survivors include his wife of 43 years , Ardyce of Des Moines; daughter, Jennifer (Blaine) Moats of Altoona; son, James Poole of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Alex and Ellie Moats; and brother, Gene Poole of Ozark, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
