Merrill, age 86, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at the Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 15 at Norwalk United Methodist Church, 1801 Sunset Dr., Norwalk, IA.
Lynus was born October 5, 1925, in Lansing, MI, to Merrill and Minnie Grant. He graduated from Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, MO and married Stella Margaret Jarrard on May 19, 1951. He retired from General Motors after 45 years of service and was a member of First Christian Church in Ridgeway, MO. Lynus enjoyed golfing, traveling and visiting family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Stan (Annette) Grant, Gary (Bev) Grant, Steve (Natalie) Grant, and Dan (Liz) Grant; son-in-law, Chad Holen; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; brother, Gordon, and daughter, Michele.
