Linda, 61, passed away on September 6, 2008 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Linda was born on April 6, 1947 in Brookfield, MO to Lawrence and Eleanor Bell. She lived in many places as a child in an Air Force family, including two years in Japan, before settling in Des Moines in 1958. She met the love of her life, David, and was married on September 4, 1968 in New London, CT. They returned to Des Moines in 1969 to live and raise their family.
Linda was an accomplished businesswoman in many fields including sales, human resources, her own retail gift shop, and, most recently, as a tax preparer, where she was proud to earn her enrolled agent certification with H & R Block.
She lived by the motto, "The Time I Enjoy Wasting Is Not Wasted Time."
She enjoyed scrapbooking, often going to all night cropping parties where she created many beautiful memories of friends and family.
Linda's most valued accomplishment, however, was her family. She had two sons and seven grandchildren who, along with her husband, meant the world to her.
The thing she enjoyed most was spoiling her grandchildren during holidays and birthdays. She established many family traditions like New Year's Eve Bingo, and even created a new holiday called "Practice Christmas" to teach her grandchildren the spirit of giving.
Linda is survived by her husband, David Catron; two sons, Dale (JoDee) Catron of Norwalk, IA and Joe (Tara) Catron of Prairie City, IA; seven grandchildren: Ryan, KelCee, Kayleigh, Kaleb, Casey, Noah, and Jake; a sister, Cecilia (Dan) Ladd of Temple, TX; and two brothers, Lawrence (Helen) Bell of Des Moines, and George Bell.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with the family receiving friends at Dave and Linda's home following the service.
