Trudy Crooks Martinez 58 passed on November 15, 2011 peacefully in her home with her children by her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born February 25, 1953 in Des Moines, IA; the daughter of Frank and Donna Crooks. Trudy spent most of her youth in Avon Lake, IA where her passion for animals and nature developed. Trudy took in everything from stray cats and dogs to skunks and raccoons. Trudy moved her family to Madison, WI. in 1984 where is began a long term career in data entry. Retiring in April of 2009. After retiring she moved to Chubbuck, ID. where she spent most of her time playing in her garden, bonding with her grandchildren and enjoying all the mountains have to offer.

Trudy touched all lives blessed to have known her, she was a wonderful mother and a great grandmother.

She will be greatly missed by her children Eric (Jodi) Gulling, Johna (Brian) Macarty, her father Frank Crooks, brother Rory (Kathy) Crooks,six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Trudy was preceded in death by her daughter Alisha and mother Donna Crooks.

Graveside services will be held Monday November 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Avon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Lung Cancer Alliance would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 20 Nov 2011.
