Harriet Edna Pidgeon, 101, died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Karen Acres in Urbandale. Funeral services will be 2pm Sunday, August 28th at Tifereth Israel Synagogue. Burial will follow at Jewish Glendale Cemetery. For those unable to attend Harriet’s service will be live streamed. Harriet was born January 16, 1921 in Des Moines to Samuel and Rose Kimmel. She graduated high school in Des Moines and remained a lifelong resident. Harriet married Abraham Pidgeon and they raised their two daughters, Linda and Susan. After the children were grown Harriet worked for Helzberg Diamonds, her love for jewelry made this an ideal occupation for her. Harriet had a green thumb and was a wonderful gardener. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Harriet liked to shop for antiques and loved her dogs. Most all Harriet will be remembered for her gregarious personality, she loved to engage and talk with people.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (William S.) Lapp of Plymouth, MN; son-in-law, Arnold Zuckman of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren: Matthew Zuckman and Sarah Jane Lapp (Richard Lescault); great grandchildren: Oliver and Amelie Zuckman; nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Susan Zuckman.

The family would like to thank Harriet’s niece, Zona Pidgeon for her loving kindness; Lyn and Vic Mitchell for their dear friendship; and the staff at Karen Acres, especially Erin of Suncrest Hospice, for their compassionate care.
