Obituary

Carol Reed, 79, passed away August 17, 2022 at MercyOne Hospice House in Johnston, IA. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, and a Graveside Committal Service will be held on Sunday September 11, 2022, 1:00pm at the Van Wert cemetary with a fellowship luncheon following at the Van Wert community center in Van Wert, Iowa. She was born to Boyd and Annabelle Ethington on May 3, 1943, in Delphos, IA. Carol’s hobbies included playing board games, card games and Pokeno, camping and traveling the country with friends and family, and crocheting (especially baby blankets for new family arrivals). She is remembered for her hard-working and fun-loving ways. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Patricia (Jerry), Marion (Carolyn), and Jack (Karen). She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; children Kenton Mickael (Mary) and Kalina Michelle (Rick); grandkids Richie (Krista), Megan (David), Taylor (Peter) and Elizabeth and her great-grandkids Lilly, Jamie, Connor, Piper and Rory. Memorial contributions for Carol can be addressed to American Brawn, a charity Kenton established in 2018, at 106 14th Ave., Grinnell, IA 50112, or donations can easily be made at www.americanbrawn.us. Donations will be used to purchase life-saving equipment for first responder departments in Eastern Polk County.
