Donald Dean Trupke, 92, of Johnston, IA formerly of Algona, IA, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Brio in Johnston.

Don was born January 25, 1930, in Carroll, IA, son of Ben and Evelyn (Skillingstad) Trupke. He received his education in Carroll where he graduated in 1948. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for 2 years. Following his discharge he married Marion Swain on January 25, 1960, in Boone, IA.

Don and Marion made their home Algona where they owned and operated Trupke Electric Motors Sales and Service and sold Milwaukee Tools from 1956-1995. Following Marion’s death on August 30, 2012 Don remained in Algona and for the past two years has been living at Brio in Johnston.

Don loved nature and enjoyed being outside fishing and photography. He was known for his kindness, faithfulness and soft-spoken nature.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Jim Smith, nephew Kevin (LuAnn) Smith, two nieces Karen Smith and Amy Smith, three great nephews Blake (Meghann) Smith and their children Lena, Everett, Ella and Drennan, Trent (Shantell) Smith and their daughter Rue, and Reed Smith.

Private family Graveside Services will be held at the River View Cemetery in Algona.
