Robert (Bob) Eugene Burris, age 79, of Indianola, Iowa peacefully passed away on December 27, 2021. Bob was born on February 3, 1942 in Linden, Iowa to Andrew and Ardena (Jones) Burris. He grew up in Linden and graduated from Linden High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in that same year and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. While on leave during July of 1964, Bob married the love of his life, Kathleen (Kathy) Goetzinger. In 1966, Bob and Kathy welcomed their first son, Terry. Three years later they welcomed their second son, Travis. They lived in the Des Moines area most of their married life. Bob worked for Des Moines Asphalt until starting his own asphalt/concrete company in 1980. Bob was hardworking and spent long hours to build a successful business. He instilled a strong work ethic in both of his boys who worked for him. When he retired in 2003, he and Kathy enjoyed traveling and gambling. He especially enjoyed spending time watching his grandkids in all of their sports and activities, particularly baseball and softball. He also loved to go fishing with his grandson. Bob had a sense of humor that caught you off guard and kept you rolling.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Terry (Suzi) Burris of Indianola, IA and Travis (Angie) Burris of Eudora, KS; his grandchildren, Jake (Ashley) Burris, Amanda (Cole) Brouhard, Cassie Burris, Kirsten Burris (James Bultman), and Jaiden Burris; his great-grandchildren, Owen, Kasen, and Graysen Brouhard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his eight siblings: Lucille, Luther, Clifford, Wynetta, Junior, Delbert, Jolean, and John.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00AM at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with burial immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family and will be donated to a charitable cause at a later date.
