Julie Anne (Hannan) Bruner, 78, passed away Monday July 25, 2022 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Julie was born October 26, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN to Dana and Margaret (Patrick) Hannan. She graduated from Scecina High School in 1961. Soon after graduation, Julie married Sewell A Bruner II and they celebrated 59 years together in June 2022. Julie happily raised her family and then started a successful career in banking which she worked for over 20 years. She had many wonderful friends and was very active at Christ the King Catholic Church. Julie loved to travel and be with her family.

Julie is survived by her husband, Sewell; children, Patrick (Lisa) Bruner, Maggie (Bryan) Drake and Beth Anne (Frank) Ellis; son-in-law, Marc Drees; ten grandchildren, Meaghan (Donnie) Kay, Molly (Eldin) Redzic, Matt Bruner, Rachael (Ross) Enderson, Jonathan Drake, Chase (Dannielle) Drees, Parker Drees, Anthony Ellis, Madalyn Ellis and Emma Ellis; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Owen Kay. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughters, Margaret Ellen Bruner and Sally Drees.

Julie’s family wants to say a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Taylor House.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church.
