Brian Floden - Altoona, IA

Brian Floden, 65, passed away on July 13, 2022, at his residence in Altoona, IA after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Brian was born to Lester and Luella (Hanrahan) Floden on December 30, 1956, in Des Moines, IA. Brian attended Dowling Catholic High School and graduated in 1975. He met the love of his life, Nancy Bennett, while on a blind date in 1977. They were united in marriage on September 24, 1987. This union blessed Nancy and Brian with two children, Brianne and Matthew Floden, and stepchild, Sara Calland-West. Brian continued his education at DMACC, receiving an Associate's Degree in Conditioned Air in 1996. He retired as a HVAC service technician from Excel Mechanical in 2019. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33. In his free time, Brian loved spending time outdoors, camping, boating, and fishing. He especially loved flyfishing in and around Yellowstone National Park. Brian will be remembered for being a hard worker, proud father, loving husband, and fun-loving Papa.

Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Lucille Hanrahan, and Lenore and Lester Floden Sr.; and sister-in-law, Sue Floden.

Brian is survived by his wife, Nancy; parents, Lester and Luella Floden; children, Brianne (Stephan) Floden, Matthew (Chelsee) Floden, and Sara (Damian) West; grandchildren, Sebastian, Victoria, Rowan, Ash, and soon to be, River Jade; sister, Marjorie (Bob) Graham; brothers, Mike Floden and Kevin (Heather) Floden; and many nieces and nephews.
