Karen F. Swanson Fensterman passed away on July 5, 2022, in the care of Taylor House Hospice surrounded by family and friends. Karen was born October 31, 1943, in Tyler, MN.

She was born to Robert F. and Alice H. (Johnson) Swanson, both deceased. Karen was a graduate of Madison High School and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where she began her career as a dental technician in 1962 until her retirement. She married Everett A. Fensterman (deceased) on June 11, 1966, and from that union came Paul A. Fensterman born in 1971 and Leia A. Sparks (Fensterman) born in 1974.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Melanie) Fensterman and grandsons, Max, Meyer and Oliver of O’Fallon, MO, daughter, Leia (Dee Allen) Sparks of Milwaukee, WI, an identical twin sister, Sharen (Stan) Olson of Mankato, MN and a brother Dean R. Swanson of Lisle, IL and many extended family and friends.

There will be a memorial service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 2600 E. Euclid Ave. Des Moines, IA 50317 on Aug. 9, 2022, at 2 pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with just her son and daughter.
