Michael Stephen Kennedy, 77, of Altoona formerly of Des Moines, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Edencrest Tuscany in Altoona.

Mike was born April 11, 1945, in Des Moines.

Mike received his education in Des Moines, graduating from North High School in 1963. He worked as a Firefighter for the City of Des Moines from 1967-1990 until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked as a School Bus Driver for Des Moines Public Schools.

Mike got great joy by passing out Tootsie Rolls to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his mother Joan and daughter Kym Kennedy.

Mike is survived by his granddaughter Madeline (Jacob) Laursen, niece Tiffanie Richardson, and his former wife Judy Kennedy.

Private family services will be held.
