Joanne Alice Milby, 70, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully in Indianola, Iowa on June 27, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will begin at 10:00am prior to the service. Burial will take place at Carlisle Cemetery.
Joanne was born in Munich, Germany on March 5, 1952. She was adopted by George and Katherine Lawson. Anyone who knew Joanne was aware of her great love of animals. She devoted her life to the care of so many of God’s creatures. She tirelessly operated Joanne’s Animal Sanctuary for many years. Joanne was a caring human being who didn’t know a stranger. She will be greatly missed by many.
Joanne is survived by her sons, Christopher Pallwitz, David (Jacqueline) Milby, and Brandon Milby; grandchildren, Jaxson Milby, Madisyn Milby, and Summer Milby; and step-grandchildren, Kamden and Kiah Johnson.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and a brother, Rick.
