Theatta Brandmeyer, 86, passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Bridges at Ankeny in Iowa. Funeral services will be at Saylorville Church, 6429 NW 6th Dr. Des Moines, IA on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Family will greet friends beginning at 12:30 pm with service and prayer starting at 1:30 pm.

Theatta was born on a farm near Lennox, South Dakota, on October 18, 1936, to Martin and Rose Meyer – Bunjer and preceded in death by husband Alonzo Brandmeyer. She is survived by her sons Arlie (& Linda) and Larry (& Rebekah), siblings Virgil (& Dolores) Bunjer and Marlene (& Joe) Hanssen and four grandchildren (Nathan, Alexa, Sydney, Aaron).

Friends and family lovingly called her Tootsie, and we enjoyed listening to her play the piano, she gave lessons to many including her grandchildren. For more than 20 years she worked at the Des Moines Area Community College supporting the president’s office and the DMACC Foundation. She received a service award in 2001 for her contribution to being involved with more than $40 million in new projects.

She graduated from Belmond High School in 1954 and received a certificate from Moody Bible Institute, Palmer Business, and graduated with an associate's degree from Omaha Bible Institute. Theatta was a faithful member of the Saylorville church where she served as a pianist for many decades. Theatta greatly enjoyed being active with the Ankeny Senior Center and being their pianist.

The family would like to sincerely thank the many friends who visited her at Bridges Care Center and for the care given to Theatta during her stay.
