Rev. Dr. Linda Wheeler, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on March 17, 2022, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.

She was born on December 12, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York to Raymond and Martha Schumann. She earned a Masters of Theology degree, among other credentials. As an administrator with a residential care facility, Linda also served on the pastoral staff at Commerce Community church where she formed a lifelong friendship with the
Rev. Bonnie Rice. Together with her husband Floyd, Linda started a food program, called Street Angel Bus, in order to help those in need. Being a person who volunteers her time, Linda would give whatever she had out to anyone in need. In addition to playing the Omni Chord, Linda regularly participated in church services and other events.

Surviving are a son Raymond (Jennifer) of Des Moines, IA, Jlee (Leon) McCall of Bayard, IA, And Elizabeth (Art) Vivas of Carson City, NV; Sister Karen (Ron) Waccome of Marshalltown, IA; Rev. Donald Barnhill was a 15-year common-law partner and caregiver, 11 Grandkids and 5 Great-Grandkids, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Martha Schumann, Husband Floyd, 2 daughters Velma Smith, and Jackie Wheeler along with 2 Brothers Martin and Dennis.

Her body has been cremated with a celebration of life to take place on March 24, 2022, at Commerce Community Church at 4007 High St, West Des Moines, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the family.
