John “Skip” Steven McDonald, 75, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022 in Des Moines, IA. He was a resident of Norwalk, IA and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Skip was born on March 4, 1947 in Des Moines, IA to John and Gloria (Stevens) McDonald. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and went on to attend Grandview College in Des Moines, IA. From there, Skip served in the US Army as a military police officer in Vietnam. After returning, he spent a majority of his career working in the glass and glazing business.

Skip loved getting together with family to play croquet and eat ice cream. At any given time, you could find him watching whichever sport was in season on television. He was especially a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and anything Iowa State University.

Skip is survived by his wife, Kathy, and his two children: Denise (Steve) Gordon and Deven (Theresa) McDonald, and his two step-children: Michael (Sheryl) Graber and Shelly Kirschbaum.

He was very proud of his grand-children: Ric (Nicole), Monica, Ian, Jocelyn, Sean (Brandi), and Ethan, and his great-grandchildren: Vincent, Shiloh, Andrew, Serenity and Violet.

He is also survived by brothers: Jim and Dave as well as nephews: Steven and Ryan and niece: Jessica (Cameron).

Skip was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a celebration of life scheduled for a later date to be determined.
