She attended school in Strawberry Point, IA before graduating from Independence, IA Schools. On December 4, 1942, she married Lyall E. Brown in Wickenburg, Arizona. After her husband passed, she became an active member and officer of Ames Business Women's Club and later of Ames' Women's Club where she remained an active member until her death. She volunteered at Northwood Elementary, Ames Public Library, Special Olympics and worked hard to raise money for young women scholarships. Her family and grandchildren were the most important thing to her. She supported them in all their sports and activities, attending as many activities as she could. She loved to quilt and craft and enjoyed teaching these skills to her great-grandchildren. She and Lyall shared their love of travel and camping with their grandchildren with trips throughout Iowa as we as many other states.
