BURBANK, INGHAM

Reverend Connie S. Burbank passed away peacefully January 18, 2022 surrounded by her children. She was a vibrant and resilient spirit who provided comfort, guidance, and laughter to everyone who knew her. Known as Nana to her grandchildren, Connie served as Mom to many, and was a teacher, counselor, and fixer to all. Once you were a part of her family, you were always a part of her family.

Connie was born January 14, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard and Jane Ingham. Always a perfectionist, Connie never did anything halfway and charted her own path. She raised four children as a single mom for many years and taught them tenacity, deep love, and the importance of faith. She married Richard Burbank on July 26, 1985, who she shared a life with for nearly 34 years.

Connie’s strong spirituality and eclectic interests fueled her passions as an artist, musician, minister, and lifelong learner. She created strong connections with people and especially with animals, including three wolves, a menagerie of wildlife, and Zeus, her devoted rescue dog. Most recently, the universe led Connie to Jasper, a finicky, large Maine Coon cat who connected with her the second they laid eyes on each other at the ARL.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jane, twin sister Bonnie, and her husband, Richard Burbank. She is survived by her children Rick (Jen), Joe (Jen), Katy, and Mandy; step-children Marsha and Richard; grandchildren Nicole, Paul, Ashley, Gybsin, Sierra, Austen, Jakob, Kailey, Zachary, Gabriel, Miranda, and Lydia; great grandchildren Izaiah, Abram, Aniyah, Masyn, Jonah, and Grayson; sister Madge; brother-in-law Robert; sister-in-law Cathy; and many nieces she loved dearly.

Faith leads you to God, which leads you back to me.

Services will be held February 26, 2022 at Iles Westover Funeral Home 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, Iowa with a visitation at 11:30 a.m. and funeral at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to direct toward a cause important to Connie.
