Fern V. Struble, 88 of Ankeny, Iowa passed from this life on January 25, 2022.

She was born May 27, 1933, to Carl and Virginia (McLaran) Callaghan on their farm near Oto, Iowa. She graduated from Smithland High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Struble April 4, 1952. She was a cookie-baking, stay-at-home Mom of three. In 1970 she began a 35-year career as an Administrative Assistant for Frankel’s and Kucharo’s Clothing Store and The Travel Planners in Des Moines. In 1988 they moved to Sacramento, CA where she worked for several mortgage companies. She enjoyed attending Sacramento Kings basketball games. In 2005 she retired, and they returned to Iowa where she enjoyed hosting family dinners and playing board games with her great-grandchildren. She loved shopping and also watching college and NBA basketball games.

Fern is survived by her daughter, Shelley Holtman; her son: Kirk, her granddaughter: Erin (Derek) Miller, her grandson: Kyle (Laura) Holtman and her great grandchildren: Natalie and Katherine Miller, Dylan Marie and Rhys Holtman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Dick, her son: Scot, her son-in law: Steve and her sister Betty.

Per her wishes no service is planned. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
