1948-2011

Carl Stephen Johnson, 63, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 5, 2011. He was born October 9, 1948, in Des Moines to Leland and Elsie (Robinson) Johnson.

He enjoyed fishing, outdoors and woodworking. He demonstrated a life of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.

Stephen was a 1966 graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. He was employed by Norwest Bank from 1978 to 1998; followed by Excell Marketing, Principal Financial, Nationwide Insurance, and finally, the State of Iowa Department of Elder Affairs since 2007.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Candi; children, Angela (Jimmy) Dotoli, Julian (Jasmine), Che (Nikkol), Jesse, Thaddeus “Pookie” (Allison), and Stephanie Johnson; and grandchildren, Jade, Jemiah, Jalen, Jaden, and Emery. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby; and sister, Janice.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
