Esther L. McGriff, 62, of Des Moines, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Taylor House in Des Moines.
Born Aug. 23, 1941, in Barnes City, she was the daughter of H. Allen and Alberta Ahlsclager.
Ms. McGriff was raised in Barnes City but also lived in Humboldt and was a longtime resident of Burlington before moving to Des Moines 17 years ago. She enjoyed her computer and making calendars with photos, scrapbooking, arts and crafts and needlework. She was active in committees and activities at Elsie Mason manor.
Survivors include two daughters, Penny Wagner of Ankeny and Mona Reimers of Carmel, Ind.; three grandchildren; her mother, Alberta Ahlsclager-Strand of Anamosa; and one sister, Mona Burns of Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter and her father.
The funeral for Ms. McGriff was March 3 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.
A memorial was established for Elsie Mason Manor.
