William R. Bird, 80, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Penthouse at Scottish Rite Park. Burial will be in Ida Grove Cemetery.

Bill was born May 21, 1931 in Ida Grove, IA to Albert and Helen (Richardson) Bird. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa. He was a Physical Therapist with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, retiring in 1985. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Central Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his nephew, Allan (Kathy) Bird of Glenwood, IA and their three daughters: Ashley, Brooke and Allison Bird. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rhule Bird.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Brotherhood Fund at Scottish Rite Park.
