Katherine Marie Romitti (Kaska)died peacefully on January 10,2012 after a long illness. She was born on March 3, 1936 in Fairfield, IA to the late Eugene and Beatrice Kaska. She is preceded in death by her husband Al Romitti and her brother Jim Kaska. Marie is survived by a sister, Shirley Rossa (Glynn), brother, Reverend William Kaska, sisters in law, Karen Kaska and Norma Aagesen and many nieces and nephews.

Marie attended Northern Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls and AIB. She became an accomplished typist and had several secretarial positions in Des Moines. She married Al Romitti in 1964 and moved to Madrid, IA continuing to commute to Des Moines to work. Upon Al’s death Marie moved back to Des Moines to enjoy her friends there and pursue her love playing the piano. She was a gifted pianist and enjoyed playing at church, local hospitals and many events. She was also active in the Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 9am to 11am followed by her funeral at 11am on Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines. Memorials may be sent to Hospice at 5650 NW Johnston, Suite E, Johnston, IA, 50131 or American Cancer Society.
