Mona was born on January 1, 1912 in Exira, IA to Frank and Maude Hamlin Kreamer. She had four sisters and one brother. She spent several years with the National Public Health Service as a traveling nurse with posts in NYC, St. Louis and Cleveland, OH before she came back to Iowa and married George L. Norris.
