Merrill F. Seehorn, 88, passed away January 13, 2012 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

A visitation will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, January 16, at the First Church of Christ in Ankeny. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, also at the Church.

Merrill was born August 10, 1923 in Brooklyn, Iowa, to Fayne and Anna Seehorn, and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1941.

He served in the Army Air Corp during WW II, from 1942 to 1945.

He later worked for Neumann Construction Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of First Church of Christ in Ankeny, which he helped establish.

Merrill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Violet (Lamb) Seehorn, of Ankeny; his sons, Dennis, of Ankeny, and Steven (Linda) of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Cathy (Danny) Duvall of Florissant, MO; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, James Seehorn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of Christ, in Ankeny or the Central Brazil Mission where a granddaughter serves.
