Des MoinesClarence Eugene Dameron, Sr., the son of Howell Samuel and Ollie Mae Dameron, was born on June 5, 1954 in Des Moines. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School System and at an early age, attended Union Baptist Church. Clarence was a minister at Miracle Life Family Church.
Clarence was united in matrimony to Virginia Hernandez on July 1, 1989 in Des Moines. Together they have shared many wonderful memories. Clarence was employed by Polk County Convention Center full-time for 19 years and post retirement, part-time for one year.
Clarence was a fun loving person. He enjoyed ministering at Rehab Center of Des Moines and also enjoyed football, singing and was a manager for the WTCU of Iowa. He was involved with transitional housing for men and women coming from domestic abuse, homelessness, prison and substance abuse. But most of all, Clarence loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Clarence departed this life on January 24, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 57. Preceding him in death were his parents, Howell and Ollie Dameron and his sons, Ervin and Jody Stokes.
Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Virginia Dameron of Des Moines; four sons, Clarence Jr., Richard and Kathy Morales and Henry Dameron, all of Des Moines and Michael and Tisha Stokes of CA; three daughters, Selena, Felicita and Olivia Dameron, all of Des Moines. He leaves four brothers, Howell Dameron, Charles Dameron, Gary and Rhonda Dameron and John and Karen Dameron, all of Des Moines; five sisters, Donna and Wayne Blunt, Margaret Tresa Talton, Lydia Lottie and Robert Dixon, and Sandra Robinson, all of Des Moines and Catherine and Gary Reed of Kansas City, MO; 20 grandkids; two great-grandkids; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, many friends and acquaintances.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held 1 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove Ave., Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Miracle Family Life Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Merle Hay Funeral Home.
