Died – On the morning of the 9th instant, Ethel Grace Marts, eldest daughter of John C. and Joann L. Marts, aged 5 years and 7 months, after an illness of eight days of malignant diphtheria.
A friend contributes the following: “Although this little jewel’s life was of brief duration, yet it was long enough to become the dear treasurer of the now bereft and broken household. A bright, happy rosebud, whose rippling laugh and pleasant, lovable manner endeared her alike to relatives and friends. Precocious beyond her years, giving evidence of a bright intellectual future, yet in the struggle for life she was overcome by disease. No longer will the happy home be blest with the mirth and fervor of her bright and joyous ways, nor will her sweet voice thrill our hearts with love again. She has passed over to the summer land where life’s blooming flowers are eternal.”
